Has anyone noticed that "Top Contributor" status disappears if one moves for short time to different category?
What the heck is THAT all about?!?
I’ve been shown as a "Top Contributer" in both "R&S" and "Singles and Dating," simultaneously, by Yahoo! Answers, since I’ve responded a lot in both categories. But after I responded in a couple of other categories for just a FEW days (such as "Politics"), then suddenly I’m not a "Top Contributor" anymore?
Come ON, Yahoo! Why so fickle? Isn’t a person entitled to take a short "vacation" now and then without being treated in that manner?
To "zynrworx" — My philosophy on the "TC" designation is the same as yours. No big deal. My only question is whether or not the criteria being applied by Yahoo when they give that designation is consistent, fair, and enduring-enough.
To "Lori Seaborn" — Very informative response. Thanks!

Roadrat,
I am a top contributor,
at one point the top contributor title has had 2 or 3 categories in it. I am like you I have notice this too. In order to keep your top contributor status you need to remain active in here or this is why you lost your title. You can get it back, for now its just one category because to give the top contributors and other people a chance to pick out their category and stick to it. You mentioned you had top contributor title before you can do it again. Go for you favorite category 30 days answering questions. I have seen top contributors without their badge for afew days but got it back. You percentage of best answers need to be 10% in one category too.
C’mon Roadrat.. get a life!! Waaay too much thought going into something that barely matters. Why do you care if you have a title? I’ve had that title, and wasn’t particularly excited about it. Had it… lost it. Don’t know why… don’t care.
These "distinctions" appear to be handed out at random. I am named on day and gone the next, to be renamed again in another category. They amount to zilch.
